The Youth Healthline is a telephone service for young people aged 12 to 25 years in South Australia. It is available Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.

The Youth Healthline is staffed by health professionals who are trained and experienced in working with young people. It is a confidential service for all young people, particularly those who may want to talk to someone about what is going on in their life but feel more at ease with a telephone conversation than with face-to-face contact.

Young people can ring for information about health issues including:

• physical health
• mental health
• relationships
• stress
• sexual health
• sexuality and identity
• alcohol and other drugs

The Youth Healthline staff are able to put young people in contact with health services in their area if ongoing support is needed.

An important aspect of the Youth Healthline is that it provides access to information and support to all young people, including those living in rural and remote areas of South Australia.

Children, Youth and Women's Health Service are aware that it is often difficult for young people in small communities to feel they can receive confidential health information and support, and that there aren’t many youth specific services in these areas. The Youth Healthline particularly encourage young people outside of the metropolitan area to call.

This service can also be a valuable resource for parents and service providers who may want information about health issues relating to young people or information about where to obtain support for young people and their families.
