The Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS) Parent Helpline is changing its operating hours.
Due to low call volume overnight, from the 1st May, 2011, Parent Helpline operating hours will be 7:15am to 9:15pm.
However, to ensure families continue to have 24/7 access to a quality and professional telephone service, the Parent Helpline is pleased to announce it will work in conjunction with healthdirect Australia.
healthdirect Australia is a federally funded, national health and medical telephone service that operates both the healthdirect and Pregnancy Birth and Baby Helpline (PBBH).
healthdirect Australia is the nation’s largest health and medical telephone support service and is staffed by registered nurses.
From May 1, 2011 callers contacting the Parent Helpline between 9:15pm and 7:15am will hear an automated message explaining the change in hours of operation for the Parent Helpline.
The call will then be answered by a qualified healthdirect nurse who will enquire about your medical wellbeing and attend to your query.
If the situation is not urgent, you may be referred to your local CaFHS clinic or receive a call back from Parent Helpline staff the next day.
healthdirect is a comprehensive and professional telephone support service and we are confident they will be able to provide the assistance you require.
