Christmas - yeah! But… think about the adults
11 Dec 2006
Christmas is coming and you are looking forward to so many things. Presents, holidays, family get togethers, free time to do what you want, no school…. But just take a moment to think about the adults in your life.
Christmas is a fun time for kids but is it also a fun time for adults
Are your parents or caregivers looking a bit stressed
Are they rushing around trying to get ready for the Christmas holidays, buying presents, shopping for food, getting the house all ready for visitors
Organising for holidays
Trying to get jobs finished at work and at home
Driving you about to all the things that you are involved in as well as their own things
And what about your teacher Yes! He or she has all the school stuff to do to make the end of the year a fun time for you, plus writing reports, cleaning things up, making sure every kid has all their work organised, finished and ready to take home etc. Plus, and some may find this hard to believe, your teacher is an adult too. This means that he or she is also running around trying to do all the stuff that is happening in your family!
So, what can you do about it
||Help out at home and school.|
||Be patient if they can't do something for you at the moment that you ask.|
||Get yourself organised as much as possible.|
||Let them know in good time if you are on an excursion, invited to a party, having a break up or end of year ceremony for your sports team or class, need to take a plate of something.|
Showing consideration for the adults in your life will help everyone to enjoy the run up to Christmas and holidays, including you.
