Young people's views about drugs

A survey from the Government has shown that young people are more aware that drugs like speed and ice are addictive.
The survey also showed that more young people believe cannabis (dope) causes people to be lazy and lethargic.
But the survey has also shown that more young people believe ecstasy to be a 'relaxing drug'. It is suggested that ecstasy has taken the place of cannabis in young people's perception of drug-related harm, where people are more aware of the negative effects of cannabis now, but may down play the dangers of ecstasy use.
